SSI’s income limit is based on the federal benefit rate (FBR). The FBR represents the income limit for SSI and the maximum monthly SSI payment. Of course, the income limits can fluctuate based on the size of your family. The SSA doesn’t count all your income toward your limits as well.

Can you claim someone on SSI as a dependent?

Social security income is support provided by the individual, and government assistance, like SSI, is support that comes from a third party. So, if most of their support comes from government assistance, you won’t be able to claim them as dependents.
